Ah yes… Day 2 of sleeping in before skiing begins at Saddleback. We’ll call these “Ten o’clock Tuesdays”. Because as you know, everything is required to have a catchy name these days. When you board the lifts at 10AM, you’ll find over 40 open trails, including all the groomer favorites you’ve come to know and love. Sounds like a good day to us. Temps in the 30’s, springtime snow conditions, pretty much no wind to speak of, and maybe a snow shower or two. Plus you can ski right up until 5pm. What’s not to like?
The last day of March. Came in like a lamb, out like a what? Maybe kind of lamb-ish. We hit 61 degrees here on March 10 and then from the 20th til the 26th it pretty much snowed every day, with a grand total of 20 inches of new snow on top of our already generous base layer, giving us a season total of 181 inches. We also had a few smaller storms, 7 inches worth to be precise. How do we know all this, you ask? It’s really pretty simple: SNOW IS IMPORTANT TO US, SO WE KEEP TRACK OF IT…
We don’t like to nag (ok, maybe it doesn’t really bother us), but today the nagging stops. We’ve been saying it for two weeks, and finally you won’t have to listen to us say it anymore. Because today truly is the last day to get your season pass for next year at the lowest price that has ever been offered in all of human history. Or at least so far this year. But it’s not going lower than it is today, so go online, get your wallet out, and make it happen. You know, so you don’t have to kick yourself for spending more in a few months. Then when everyone else says how much they paid for their season pass, you can just sit there and smile.
Please be aware, the Gee Whiz and Wheeler Terrain Parks will be closed today and tomorrow.
As always, please ski in control and with caution. Variable conditions and natural hazards do exist; please respect posted signage and closed trails.
