All Mountain Adventurers: FUNdamentals of Ski Racing

Introduction To Racing

Coming Winter 2024-2025!

Ready, set, RACE! Is your young athlete ready for a fun and exciting challenge next season? The intro to racing program focuses on race training, from edge control to side slipping, to carving railroad tracks to moguls, plus a variety of other challenges. With over 40 acres of beginner terrain, class is always in session here at Saddleback. Is your young athlete ready for a FUN and exciting challenge this season? Saddleback’s FUNdamentals of Ski Racing program offers an intro to racing in 10 full-day sessions from January to March. Instruction focuses on race training but will also expose participants to a variety of other challenges.

This is a 10-week program on Sundays commencing January 5th from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Our Roger Page Ski & Ride School team looks forward to building relationships with your child throughout the season and showing them all that the Saddleback community has to offer.

Why Fundamentals of Ski Racing?

From greens to glide, blues to cruise, and black diamonds to conquer, Saddleback offers a wide variety of expansive terrain and challenges that will help your child progress. Daily snow conditions and available terrain will dictate where our groups will explore. Some days we will be on groomed terrain learning front-side tactics and techniques, including an introduction to ski racing. As conditions allow, older groups will venture into bumps, trees, and steeps.  The daily terrain selection will be based on conditions and the age and skill level of the group.

Each week participants will learn a new skill, from edge control to side slipping, to carving railroad tracks to moguls and tree skiing. The purpose of this program is to increase young skiers’ knowledge and abilities, so they become passionate, lifelong skiers while making new friends and building confidence.

Program Includes

  • 10 weeks of instruction
  • Daily lunch. Lunch is included in the program cost, but we recommend that you pack a couple of easy snacks for the morning and afternoon. Calories keep your child warm!

Attendance is paramount to the success of the group, and we ask that you commit to a minimum of 8 of the 10 weeks.  If you are unable to commit to the entire season, this may impact the group your child is placed in as we see students make major improvements throughout the season.
