    Saddleback Mountain History

In the six decades since the first T-Bar started spinning, a lot has changed at Saddleback. And while every ski mountain has its own history, we think it’s pretty safe to say that few have experienced quite so many twists and turns as ours.

There’s a group of people already hard at work on the mountain. Watching. Preparing. Caring. Ski Patrol is here on the best days and the hardest ones. In the wind. In the cold. When things go right and when they don’t. They do it because they believe in this place and the people who ski it. Many of them do it as volunteers. Quietly. Consistently. Using their own gear. The Gambler is our chance to show up for them.

Six reasons to get register right now at the LIB:
•Support Ski Patrol, a crew made largely of volunteers.
•The uphill route is beautiful right now.
•Low stakes, good vibes, meet new friends!
•Prizes are on the line.
•Earn your turns for something bigger than you.
•Get a great workout in before your Super Bowl party.

The Beyond the Rime Line menu with @bissellbrother The Beyond the Rime Line menu with @bissellbrothers just dropped and it’s got us excited for tomorrow night! Five courses that move from fresh and briny to rich, slow cooked comfort, capped off with a chocolate forward finish that sticks the landing. Add in thoughtful beer pairings, a snowcat ride to dinner and back, and a table perched high above it all and suddenly this is shaping up to be way more than a meal. The last few seats are available. January is @nsaa_org Safety Month, and in our 65th January is @nsaa_org Safety Month, and in our 65th winter, it feels like the perfect moment to spotlight someone who helps keep the Saddleback experience what it’s always been: dependable, welcoming, and rooted in community. Meet Michelle Cuva. Mom, wife, nurse, and our Ski Patrol Director. Ski Patrol is essential at every mountain, but what sets Saddleback apart is a deep rooted culture of care and commitment that’s been passed on season after season. Michelle leads a team built on that legacy. One where experience, mentorship, and pride in the job matter just as much as the work itself.

Many of our patrollers are unpaid volunteers who give their time, energy, and gear to keep all of us safe on snow. They do it quietly, consistently, and (usually) without cameras rolling. If you’d like to support Ski Patrol, there are a few easy ways to get involved. Join us for The Gambler on 2.8, attend the Ski Patrol Auction on 3.28, or come meet Michelle this week at a family friendly open house in the Warming Hut at the top of Rangeley. Kids are welcome, cookies are free, and there will be a chance to win some fun prizes.

This is the first in a new series of stories from Saddleback’s community. The people who shape this mountain, keep it moving, and give it its soul. There’s plenty more coming. Huge thanks to @mainemountainmedia for bringing this story to life and taking the time to capture what it means to be a Saddlebacker.
