Rangeley Alpine Ski Club is a fully independent, championship winning team and development program that we are proud to support and partner with. Designed for young skiers ages 8 - 18 and interested in developing their skiing and ski racing skills. The program places an emphasis on inclusivity, empowerment, personal development, and fun. As Head Coach, Jeff Hawksley, puts it, the ultimate goal of the program is simple: “ski fast and laugh often.” We couldn’t have put it better ourselves. 


Program Schedule

Mid-December (exact date dependent on opening) through end of March 2021 on all weekends and holidays, 8:30am-11:30am. 

Program Costs


  • Full program (approximately 46 days): $750
  • 20 Day Training Pass: $500
  • 10 Day Training Pass: 300
  • 1 Day Training Pass: $45

        Note:  Fees do not include Saddleback season pass or day ticket.


What You'll Learn


Fundamental Skiing Skills. This is the foundation for everything that happens on skis. This is developed at very early ages and the focus remains throughout an athlete’s career. Proper movement patterns learned at early ages last a lifetime. We focus on teaching strong skiing fundamentals. The sooner an athlete can feel and repeat proper movement the better. This takes AWARENESS, FOCUS AND CORRECT REPETITION.  This is the formula for success.

Ski Racing Tactics, Awareness and Execution. Also taught at very early ages and progressing as skill and learning capabilities evolve. This is how we play the game and where we put our skills to work. The goal is knowing precisely where to go and having the skills to go there.

Sport Specific Fitness, Endurance, Strength, Power, Speed and Agility. These elements are always a part of skiing and ski racing but become more and more important as athletes develop mentally and physically.  We are skilled at programming, teaching and designing age appropriate programs.  Training suggestions will be provided appropriately as athletes mature to the level of motivation to train.

Grit, Physical and Mental Toughness and a Competitive Nature. The very nature of skiing makes it a challenging sport. Extreme weather variation and temperatures are the norm. Hard snow, soft snow, and rutted courses are conditions we see often. Ski racers need to adapt to all of it, and to do so with a positive, confident attitude. 

Self-Reliance. Participants learn to come prepared with the proper clothing and equipment needed for skiing, and to follow directions and meet coaches on the hill when needed. Through experience, they come to understand that poorly tuned skis produce poor performance, and so they learn to tune their equipment. Finally, they learn to inspect racecourses and focus on the specific technical and tactical task as directed by coaches, while self-assessing performance making technical or tactical adjustments from run to run, with and without guidance from coaches.
