Ski and Ride #ThenBeer

It's a fact: beer just tastes better at the mountain. Nothing really beats a day of skiing and riding finished off with a cold beer. If you've visited Saddleback this season you probably noticed the not-so-traditional bar we have outside of the base lodge. We present to you, The Fat Tire Mountain Bar. From a recycled shipping container, we're serving up New Belgium Brewing beer, wine, coffee and hot chocolate, soups, sandwiches and snacks.

This winter forced us to get creative in terms of food and beverage offerings, so when New Belgium approached us with the idea (which has never been done before at another ski resort) we thought it was a great solution to serve up more fun, while maintaining a COVID- safe environment for staff and guests.

Beer For a Better World

Since 1991, New Belgium has strived to prove business can be a force for good with core values in protecting the land and waters that make brewing beer possible. New Belgium is a certified B-Corp and 1% of the company's revenue goes to environmental nonprofits, totaling  $27.5 million dollars to date. Some other fun facts you might not know about New Belgium:

First wind powered brewery in the U.S.

Fat Tire became the world's first Certified carbon neutral beer in 2020.

At Saddleback, we believe life is better outside and strive to protect the resources that bring so much joy, so it made perfect sense to partner with New Beligum.

Best Brews

Have you tried New Belgium's line up of craft beers? One of the most popular is Fat Tire. The unique flavor profile originates from the late 1930s, when local Belgian breweries aimed to satisfy the taste of visiting British soldiers. English floral hops, subtle malt sweetness and spicy, and fruity noted from Belgian yeast made for a balanced yet magical combination.

If you're an IPA fan, be sure to check out Voodoo Ranger Juicy Haze. This approachable, unfiltered Hazy IPA, often referred to as a New England IPA, is packed with bright citrusy flavors, and a pleasantly smooth finish. Voodoo Ranger Imperial IPA is made with a rare blend of choice hops that creates an explosion of fresh cut pine and citrus flavors for a complex, rich and delicious flavor. Voodoo Ranger Imperial IPA doesn’t disappoint when it comes to ABV or IBUs, having plenty of both!

Don't miss New Belgium's Accumulation White IPA. Packed with flurries of Mosaic and Amarillo hops, Accumulation bring soft fruit and citrus flavor, followed by a powder smooth finish in a seasonally suited White IPA. White IPA’s are clear or hazy, golden colored beers that are a hybrid of the hop forward American Style India Pale Ale and the traditional wheat based Belgian Wit style.

We're sure by now, you're thirsty. If you haven't had the chance, stop by the Fat Tire Mountain Bar, open daily - 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. - weekends/holidays and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. - weekdays.
