Maine's
Rangeley Lakes Region has been considered a legendary destination for
years because of its incredible natural beauty and its year-round vacation
opportunities.
There are 111 lakes and ponds in the region, as well as the highest
concentration of 4,000 foot peaks in the State of Maine.
The Appalachian Trail runs through the area on its way from
Springer Mountain, Georgia
to Mount Katahdin in northern Maine. You can hike on the
trail for a day, a week, or an entire season, and you might
even meet a through-hiker
along the way. The Northern Forest Canoe Trail is a waterway
trail that also runs through the area on its way from the
Adirondack Region of New
York to the Allagash River Region of northern Maine.
The charming town of Rangeley, with 1,500 year round residents, is the
centerpiece of this renowned vacation region. At the peak of the summer,
there are over 10,000 people enjoying all that the town and the region
have to offer. Along Main Street you will find shops, restaurants, a
book store, a couple of sporting goods shops, and even an old-fashioned
movie theater (with comfortable seats!). There's a town park with boat
access, a swimming area and tennis courts.
