Wild Mushrooms of Summer Walk and Talk at SaddlebackRANGELEY, Maine - On Friday, August 14, Saddleback is hosting an evening lecture about Maine's best edible wild mushrooms. Presented by noted Maine Mushroom expert, Greg Marley of Mushrooms for Health, this presentation will be accompanied by great photos and live mushrooms representing world class edibles, and Maine's finest wild mushrooms. This is a great introduction for a beginner or someone wanting to learn about mushrooms. The lecture is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Saddleback Base Lodge on the mountain. The cost is $10.00. Following the lecture, mushroom enthusiasts can participate in a morning walk the next day, Saturday August 15. The group will accompany Greg Marley on a walk and collection trip focused on the mushrooms of summer. Western Maine is enjoying a great year for chanterelles and participants can plan on collecting the basis for a great dinner! Learn about the mushrooms up close and personal. Participants should wear walking clothes and bring a mushroom basket and snack. Saddleback Express Sandwich and Coffee Bar, conveniently located in the comfort of the Base Lodge, will be open for lunch following the walk. The walk will start at the Base Lodge at 9:00 a.m. and end at 1:00 p.m. The cost for the walk is $25.00. For directions to the Base Lodge, please call 207-864-5671.
