For Immediate Release Saddleback Receives 64 Inches of New SnowRANGELEY, Maine - Saddleback has received over 64 inches of new snow since last Wednesday. This has resulted in lots of extremely happy skiers and riders. Saddleback CEO and General Manager, Warren Cook stated, "The epic snow this weekend will set March up like the old days. It is always the best month for Maine skiing and riding! And April is also one of the snowiest months of the season, so we have lots of great days to look forward to. This weekend was so good, we were proud to showcase all of Saddleback: the big glades, the old New England style trails and the Appalachian Trail snowfields like we have never seen!" According to Mountain Operations Director, Jim Quimby, Saddleback's summit snowfields stretch as far as the entire ridge of Saddleback Mountain. The summit snowfields have primarily been referred to as "the Summit," but also as the Snowfields. Many years ago the mountain used to tow people to the summit behind a snowmobile (water ski style) and a party-like atmosphere surrounded the summit. This area goes from the top of Muleskinner to the area directly over the top of America, and yes, there is more acreage available. Depending on snowpack, there are easily 50-plus acres of skiing off both front and back sides of the summit and the Appalachian Trail runs right through the middle. "You can walk up a well boot-tracked trail a couple hundred yards above Kennebago Quad, and you're on top of the world." Saddleback has a full schedule of special events planned for the spring months including the Ski Patrol Reunion and Live Auction on March 6; Maine Day with tickets for residents only $35 on March 7; St. Patrick's Family Fun Day on March 13; the Sixth Annual Cardboard Box Race with a theme of Cartoon Characters on March 27; and the Seventh Annual Pond Skimming Contest on April 3. April 4 will feature the Easter Egg Hunt, Costume Parade, and Summit Service with Reverend Peter Panagore, plus Maine Day with tickets only $35 for Maine Residents. Finally, April 10 features the third Annual Park Shark Challenge, which is a slopestyle event. ### Editor's Note: Click on the image above or the link below to access a downloadable version. http://www.marshallpr.com/sbm/photos/releases_674_1_o.jpg
