Greely Honor Roll Student Earns Season Pass to Saddleback

RANGELEY, Maine -Rachel Cutler, a student at Greely Middle School, recently earned a $49 season pass to Saddleback Maine. Saddleback's new PEAK (Promoting Education and Activity for Kids) Program rewards Maine's honor roll students in K-12 with a $49.00 Season Pass.

Rachel worked hard to get hers. "This fall, I have definitely pushed myself more than I normally would to get this pass. I think that the PEAK pass program is a good way to get kids outdoors and motivate them to get good grades. It has certainly motivated me to set high standards for myself."

Rachel grew up skiing in Maine. Her family mostly skied at Sugarloaf and that's where she learned to ski when she was only three years old.

"I had skied at Saddleback in the past, but last year my family went there because prices were cheaper than others. I now love that mountain and I have skied there many times," said Rachel. "I even got a snowboard lesson when I was there. If I could, I would drive there every weekend to ski because it is so friendly and fun at Saddleback."

Over 1100 PEAK Passes have already been purchased. The program, supported by Governor Baldacci, is designed to encourage Maine students to perform well in school, to help curb childhood obesity, and to promote getting outside and enjoy winter sports.

"If a student did not make honor roll during the first marking period, they can shoot for the next one," says Conrad Klefos, director of marketing at Saddleback. "Lots of schools end the second marking period in late January, leaving February and March to ski on a PEAK pass."

Any Maine child in K-12 that makes the honor roll is eligible to receive a Saddleback season pass for just $49. Ideal proof is a list from the school that lists all honor roll students. Other acceptable proof is the report card or a letter from the school principal or superintendent. Any criterion set by the school that defines an honor student is acceptable to Saddleback.
