New for the 2010-2011 Season:
Saddleback has expanded the PEAK (Promoting Education and Activity for Kids) Pass to all New England Honor Students. Honor roll students in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont are now eligible to purchase a season pass for only $99.00. Maine honor roll students can purchase a PEAK pass for just $59.00.
Additional trails have been cut in Casablanca, part of the largest self-contained steep skiing and riding area in the East. The Casablanca chutes are accessed by the Kennebago Quad and Saddleback has expanded the landing zone at the top of the Quad to create more room for people admiring the panoramic views of Western Maine Mountains and Lakes.
Getting to Saddleback has become easier, too: recent road improvements on Maine’s Route 4 have decreased drive times from Farmington to Rangeley by 20%.
Other Recent Improvements:
The Hornberg trail (green circle) is a new, easier trail in the South Branch beginner/family area that provides access to ski-in/ski-out trails from the South Branch and Mountain Brook condominiums.
Kennebago Quad Chairlift
The Kennebago Quad is a Dopplemayr quad chairlift that has replaced the Kennebago T-bar, and services 15 trails and glades. The new chair provides easy and faster access to the spectacular high-elevation advanced terrain with incredible views of the lakes and Western Maine Mountains.
In 2009, we built a yurt at the base of the Kennebago Quad lift, called Kennebago Station, where skiers and riders can warm up and refuel , offering hot and cold beverages, soups, chowders, sandwiches and snacks, and it is equipped with heat, power and composting toilets. A yurt has a very low impact on the environment and provides a cozy place to relax on the Mountain.
Kennebago Steeps !
The Kennebago Steeps! is the largest steep skiing and riding facility in the East, with 12 trails and glades including the Casablanca chutes. These are top to bottom black diamond and double black diamond runs with no mixing with lower level trails. The Kennebago Steeps is serviced the Kennebago Quad chairlift. Adjacent to the lift at the base of the Casablanca glade is Kennebago Station restaurant. In 2009, Black Beauty, Frost Bite and Artula (black diamond) were all added off the new Kennebago Quad Chair.
In 2010, two new Pisten Bully Snow Groomers were added to the mountain’s arsenal of machines to make the Saddleback snow surface better than ever!
Rental and Retail Shops
Saddleback operates a full-service rental shop and retail store in the base lodge. In 2010, we added an auxiliary retail shop on the first floor across from the ticket office. The rental shop offers numerous rental skis, boards, boots, bindings and poles. The retail shop is your source for clothing and accessories for all your Mountain needs.
Saddleback has ski-in/ski-out condos available!
