Saddleback Summer Artists Workshop Series July 9th-13th
Monday, July 9, 2012
Start Time: 9:00 AM
Two nationally acclaimed artists, Bonnie Bishoff and Melaine West, will be team-teaching this four-day class, The Marriage of Surface and Form. Both Bishoff and West are world renowned artists in this relatively new and exciting medium, polymer clay. They each have works of art in the Racine Art Museum in Racine Wisconsin, which contains the world’s largest and most outstanding collection of Polymer Art in the world. Both sell their work world wide and have it in numerous galleries around the country.
The classes will be held in Saddleback’s beautiful post and beam base lodge with views of Maine’s Western Mountains and Rangeley Lakes. The entire lodge will be reserved for those attending. An inspirational setting for all those attending. Classes will run from 9- 5 each day and the lodge will remain open in the evening for students to be able to continue working on their projects.
Polymer clay is a pliable material similar to modeling clay but is made of plastics and can be baked a low temperatures to harden whatever creation a person has made. The results are often magnificent. Bonnie Bishoff and Melanie West will show you the spectacular possibilities of what can be created. Other additives like mica can be added to create the look of polished metals. The tools for this medium are inexpensive and easy to obtain so you can take what you learn during the workshop home and keep creating.
Lodging in the on-mountain condominiums with spectacular views will be available and participants may choose to be assigned a room in a shared 2 or 3 bedroom condominium or book their own private unit. There are many other lodging options in the area. For a full description of the workshop click here. For registration and lodging information please call 1-877-864-5441 or email Saddleback Guest Services.
