For a few years now I have been kicking around some ideas that everyone thought were over the top. One was to put buttons on all the single staff that said Marry Me Ski Free. I thought at the very least it would stir up conversation between the guests and staff and maybe provide some laughs. At best book a few more weddings.
My second idea, in this age of Match.com and eHarmony, was speed dating on the chairlift. It makes perfect sense. You bring together two people who love to ski or ride, love Saddleback Mountain, and enjoy long winters. Well this winter both of my ideas will reach fruition. I am marrying a Saddleback skier who counts the free season pass for full time employee dependents as one of the foremost marital benefits, a real deal sealer.
And on Valentine’s Day, Monday, February 14, Saddleback will offer speed dating on the Rangeley double chair. We will have two single lines for people who choose to participate. Skiers and riders will have an opportunity to meet and enjoy the ride up the mountain together. When they get to the top they can ski down together or head right back to the lift for another ride up with someone new. It is a great way to meet new friends.
As a special Valentine’s gift we will offer lift tickets for just $25 on Valentine’s Day. If you do fall in love on the chairlift we have Saddleback Signature Fudge so you can buy your new love some chocolates or I would be happy to help you plan your Saddleback Wedding. I don’t know if any of this is really over the top. Let’s just have some fun.
