The calendar may not have us as officially spring, but the weather and skiing is defiantly spring! We totally missed the last rain event that the southern and coastal Maine areas experienced. Lisa and I skied almost all day yesterday and I got a good look at the mountain. The snowpack is deep and even the natural snow trails have very good cover. If you like moguls, you can find them all over the place. For steep bumps, check out Wardens Worry, Frostbite, Back Beauty and the top of Golden Smelt. If you want to experience not so steep bumps, try Parmachenee Belle or the machine made bumps on Tight Line. Nightly grooming operations are keeping most major cruising trails smooth and soft. The forecast for today through Sunday is fabulous, with sunshine and temperatures warming into the 40’s each day. Saturday may even hit 50! Not to worry, a cold front  comes through Monday bringing sharply colder air for Tuesday and possibly some snow Monday / Tuesday.

It is Telemark Invasion Day at Saddleback on Saturday. Telemark equipment demos, Telemark clinics, skinning demonstration and a fun group uphill / downhill climb take will all take place. If you Telemark, you need to be here Saturday.

This will be a wild weekend at Saddleback with BBQ’s at the Yurt and base lodge deck. You can enjoy those 16 oz PBR’s for just $2 per can on the deck. We have some great après ski music by Matt & The Barnburners beginning at 3:30 PM Saturday at the Swig n’ Smelt Pub. At 8:00 PM join us for another concert as part of our winter concert series. The band Pogey will entertain us with their Celtic style music in the fireplace room of the base lodge. We have tickets available and they are just $20 each. You will be able to pay at the door. Sunday morning it is another ski with management morning. Meet us at the base of the Rangeley Chair prior to 7:30 AM and ski with us for an hour prior to the official opening time. Don’t forget Friday is college day and all college students with valid ID ski for just $35. Tomorrow will be an excellent day to utilize your college ID!
