When was last time you can remember a perfect Martin Luther King weekend on the slopes? I bet it has been years! The last few years we have either been in the midst of a January thaw, in the middle of a deep freeze or even been on multi-day wind holds. It appears that this year will be much different. According to our forecast, it looks like this MLK weekend will be tranquil with seasonable temperatures in the 20's and little to no wind. The mountain is in beautiful shape. We have received a lot of snow during the past 12 days and surfaces could not be nicer. Snowmaking has also been going strong. Today we opened America and by the weekend Tight Line, Supervisor and Artula will open. The glades are open and the new Casablanca glade is skiing well. So the stage is set for what should be an amazing 3 day MLK weekend of skiing!

We have lots of other activities to enjoy this weekend as well. Saturday is family fun day and we have a scavenger hunt for the kids. After skiing Saturday afternoon, join us in the Swig'n Smelt Pub for some music and Give-a-ways. New England Ski & Ride will be here to give away over $2,000 of prizes including a pair of twin tip skis, helmets, goggles, gloves, t-shirts and a bunch of other items that you will want to win. Saturday night at 8:00 PM in the fireplace room, Commander Cody will bring the house down with his fabulous show. Tickets are just $18 and well worth it! We still have some tickets available. Sunday morning is ski with the management. Meet us at 7:30 AM at the Rangeley Double and we will spin the lift early and take a few runs with you before the resort opens up. I hope to see you there! We still have a few condos available for the weekend and I hear there are rooms in Rangeley. You may want to try The Rangeley Inn, the Saddleback Motor Inn or Loon Lodge.

I will be off on Wednesdays, so no blog tomorrow. If you would like to contact me, send your thoughts to cklefos@saddlebackmaine.com
