I had the good fortune today to be obligated to tour a writer and his wife around the mountain on skis. I can think of a lot of worse things to do at work, especially on a day like today with wall to wall sunshine, no wind and amazing temperatures in the 40’s. We started with Red Devil and just worked our way across the mountain until we got to Tight Line. Then we finished with a delightful run down America and finished where we started with Red Devil.  Monday night’s temperatures dropped enough that the snow had firmed up overnight but all of the groomed trails skied very well with a fine groomed granular surface. Despite the mild temperatures and the bright sunshine, the upper mountain trails never softened up.

We dodged a real bullet on Sunday. We had high winds but no rain and we have retained the snowpack that we had going into the weekend. Other ski areas to our south were not so fortunate.

The forecast looks spectacular with today’s weather continuing all the way into Sunday. Cold at night, sunny and mild during the day, you will want to be here! Remember, tomorrow is 2 for 1 Wednesday. You can have two adult lift tickets for only $49! I hope that you will take advantage of our offer.

We have another action-packed weekend to look forward to. Saturday is Telemark Invasion. This is a day for Telemark skiers of all abilities to converge on Saddleback and share their passion for the sport. There will be ski demos, a skinning demonstration, three levels of clinics and fun uphill / downhill climb. That's not a race but instead a fun group activity. Of course, there will be après ski music in the pub followed by another concert as part of our winter concert series. Performing at 8:00 PM in the fireplace room will be Pogey. They are a Celtic band and are very entertaining. Tickets are available at our ticket office and are just $20 each.

I am off tomorrow so no blog until Thursday. If you are skiing Saddleback, you may see me and Lisa, as I will not miss a day of skiing on these fabulous conditions! If you would like to contact me, send your thoughts to cklefos@saddlebackmaine.com
